This is the one to buy, June 11, 2005
I've tried several of the stevia cookbooks that Amazon carries and this is the one. The recipes use whole-grain, healthful ingredients - so you end up with food that's not just sugar-free but overall good for you. They taste great and are easy to adapt and tweak. We make muffins based on his banana bread every week. Also this author skips the evangelizing, etc that most of the other books are padded with - just "here's a natural sweetener and how to use it." Really excellent.

An excellent book on Stevia cooking., September 2, 1999
The content of Jeffrey Goettemoillers cook book is excellent. I am allergic to wheat and milk, along with sugar. Some of his recipies are wheat and milk free. The recipies for everyday foods; [ketchup,Granola, etc.] are great as you can now have sugar free ketchup, and wheat free granola. Thanks for a great book.

Coming by good Stevia recipes is quite difficult ... perhaps because many people don't know about it and/or because it doesn't taste exactly like sugar. I have tried several recipes out of this cookbook, and I haven't liked all of them. So why am I giving it 5 stars? Because it beats the competition. Also, I think that if you have never had Stevia before it takes awhile to acquire a taste for it. The recipes that I liked the most were ones that had another "sweet" ingredient in it to help dampen the bitterness of the Stevia. For example, I love the Carob Chip Cookies, Carob Brownies, the fruit sauces and the oatmeal banana bread. I did not like the coconut peanut butter cookies or the lemon pudding. If you try a recipe and do not like it, don't give up! Move onto the next one and try again! |
